“It has been said that golf is a metaphor for life. As adults in every day life we call upon the teachings and examples of the game. Golf can instill the values of honesty, respect, discipline, and self esteem in our juniors at a very young age. Working with junior golfers is one of the most rewarding aspects of my job as a PGA/LPGA Golf Professional.”

"I have been very forunate to work with many terrific Junior Golfers throughout New England. Many of these players have gone on to Captain High School and College golf teams.”

Junior Golf

The underlying message in Junior instruction is that golf is a game. Conquering the course is always our goal. I teach kids who really want to play. My job as teacher and coach is to introduce a solid foundation, encourage creativity, and teach them to play great golf. Love of the game, etiquette, and command of the rules are a must. Beginning at age six, juniors can focus on learning the game. Building on their natural ability to “play,” I introduce the fundamentals through a series of games, skills, and fun.

The program
Juniors begin by building a solid putting and short game foundation. They are expected to perform through a graduated series of skills tests. They spend equal time learning on the course as they do at the practice facility.

The Full Swing
Every ball fired on the range must have a target and a purpose. We establish fundamentals and routines early, along with a sense of discipline.

Course Management
I encourage juniors to play their game, whatever that may be. We decide what needs work, and together we build a game plan. We divide time between the course and practice range, always working on skills and transferring them to the course. Juniors are asked to track and report on their progress.

Competitive Golf
Building confidence and self-esteem early help juniors as they move into the ranks of high school and college golf. I encourage my Junior players to participate in friendly competition with their peers, enabling them to have “partners” to play with. I work with Juniors who want to engage in competition, building tournament schedules that will give them the experiences they need.

In partnering with the NEPGA junior tour (www.nepga.com) and the AJGA, (www.ajga.com), Juniors can find all the competitive golf they need, and I am there to guide them through the College golf application process.
